![]() Boston based multi-instrumentalist Dan Fox has performed throughout the US, Europe and Japan including performances at the Newport, Monterey, and Boston Globe Jazz Festivals, as well as the 2004 Gezmetaz Jazz Festival in Genoa, Italy. Primarily performing on trombone and electric bass, Dan also plays trumpet, tuba, conch shells, and drums.
Fox is a co-founder of all the Made in the Shade Music groups: Made in the Shade, The Sticky Skillet Swing Orchestra, The Royal Island Players, and Holiday Brass Quartet. Other performances include concerts with Ben Monder, Herb Pomeroy, John Tchicai, Matthew Garrison, Lou Colombo/ Dick Johnson Group, Greg Hopkins 16 Piece, Fully Celebrated Orchestra, Ben Swift Band, Gene Krupa Orchestra, Felicia Brady, and The Either/Orchestra. Fox has also played in big bands backing jazz legends Louis Bellson, Paquito D’Rivera, and Clark Terry. As a jazz educator he led workshops in improvisation and taught ensembles at the Gezmaetaz Festival in Genoa, Italy. Fox has also given clinics at Berklee College of Music, Cleveland State University, Interlochen School for the Arts, University of Iowa, and Lawrence University. Fox currently teaches private students in Lexington,MA and directs the jazz band at St. Mark’s High School in Southboro, MA.
